Today I will talk a bit more about my kitchen, more specifically the kitchen sink counter top. I don’t know about you but for me I find it surprising that at this time and age in Singapore there are still people that chooses to use brick and tiles to construct the sink counter. Again, a picture speaks a thousand words..
This sink counter was constructed just over 4 years ago. A time when I thought that this approach would have been phased out. My colleague did comment that her new house is also done up in such manner, as it is more durable than the normal cabinets.
Anyway, it’s a real eyesore to me. If I just leave it be, no matter what kind of cabinet laminate I use, it will never match the sink counter. Apart from that, I wanna change the kitchen sink and again if I were to use the existing counter I would have to get someone to cut the opening to a different size unless I get a sink of the exact same dimensions.
So bye bye brick and tile counter, you’re gonna be hacked off!!

Chanced on your website, nice article about painting. After reading your article I feel like painting my own house too! Saves tons of money, which I don’t have or feel like spending on something I can do myself…
Actually, I wouldn’t use wood for someplace that’s going to be damp. Hope you don’t splash water much or the wood isn’t going to last. The sink area is the wettest place in the kitchen. At least, do not connect the sink cabinet with the rest (i.e. partition) unless you like having dampness all over the place. My 2 cents worth, hope it helps.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions mingwei, however it did come slightly too late. My kitchen is all done already. Counter top is now a black solid top and the cabinet itself is carpentry.
